Units Scale

The Loaf

  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (from about 1 lemon)
  • 1 tablespoon lime zest (from about 2 limes)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup whole milk

The Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9″x5″ loaf pan and line with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, add the sugar, lemon zest, and lime zest. Rub the zest into the sugar with your fingers until combined throughout, tinted, and fragrant.
  4. Add the melted butter and mix until combined. Then add the eggs one at a time, mixing until combined after each addition. Add the vanilla extract, lemon juice, lime juice, sour cream, and whole milk and mix until combined.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until combined (don’t overmix!).
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once baked, allow to cool.
  7. When the loaf is finally cooled, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, lemon juice, lime juice, milk, and vanilla extract with a fork until fully combined. Then pour over the loaf, and allow it to set before cutting.
